Eskom Hendrina-Prairie-Marathon
SEF conducted the Social Impact Assessment for the proposed construction of the Hendrina – Prairie – Marathon Transmission Lines.
Socio-Economic Impact Assessment for Fuel Stations
SEF takes a unique approach to the assessment of fuel stations and their impact on the biophysical, economical and social environment. It is critical for the impact in each of these sectors to be identified and managed in order to ensure a sustainable social and biophysical environment. SEF has compiled several such assessments for a variety of fuel companies throughout Southern Africa.
Environmental Education and Capacity Building Programme – Cape Winelands District Municipality
SEF compiled, coordinated and implemented an Environmental Capacity Building Programme on behalf of the Cape Winelands District Municipality. The purpose was to take in hand the legislative requirements as well as provide guidance for the execution of actions and a framework for the implementation of future projects.
Levendal Resettlement Plan
SEF provided a resettlement plan and relocation guidance to Levendal Developments as part of the rezoning, sub-division and redevelopment of an agri-village named Levendal, situated south of Paarl in the Western Cape.
Lonmin Platinum Mine Community and Social Risk Assessment
When Lonmin conducted a pre-feasibility study for its new mining operations in the Limpopo Province, SEF undertook the community and social risk assessment for the project. SEF’s involvement included a review of the environmental and community (social) studies that were undertaken for the existing Baobab Mine, as well as a gap analysis to identify major risks in the project.
Social Impact Assessment - Eskom Komati Water Augmentation Scheme
SEF was tasked with compiling the Social Impact Assessment when Eskom proposed the augmentation of the Komati Water Scheme. The project comprised the installation of a water pipeline between the Rietfontein Pump Station and Duvha Power Station.
Social Services for Mining Right Application – Central Rand Gold
When Central Rand Gold SA planned to apply for new mining rights in Central Johannesburg, an area comprising 360km2, SEF provided an integrated list of social services, which included a public participation and socio-economic impact assessment, as well as guidance in terms of the compilation of the company’s social and labour plan.
Socio-Economic assessment for the Lesotho Wetlands Conservation and Management Plan
SEF was contracted to conduct a socio-economic assessment of the potential impact of a planned rehabilitation and conservation strategy for wetlands in the Highlands of Lesotho.
